The Block of Art began in 2007 as a grass roots effort to bring an arts event to downtown Pottsville, a historic town in eastern Pennsylvania about two hours northwest of Philadelphia.

Walk In Arts Center
The former Walk In Shoe Factory specialized in shoes for children, especially for children that needed orthopedic shoes. When the factory finally went under, the building was empty for several years until Evans’ Transportation bought it, to move their corporate headquarters into the building.

Gabriel Chamber Ensemble
The Gabriel Chamber Ensemble, a professional and self-managed piano quartet, is now celebrating its 22nd season of chamber music performances in Central Pennsylvania. Named after Gabriel Fauré for its exceptional rendition of the composer's piano quartets, the Ensemble has delighted its audiences not only with traditional works but also with works by Ornstein, Widor, Strauss, Saint-Saens - a list of about 120 composers. All in all, a repertoire of over 350 classical pieces!!!
