![]() This week is Teen Safe Driving Week. Of course, any parent of a teenager knows that every week is Teen Safe Driving Week. We spend our days repeating an endless loop of reminders...seatbelts, no speeding, watch for other drivers, no more than two passengers, no cellphones...and on and on. Do they listen? We can never be sure but that doesn't stop us from trying. When my daughters were in high school texting was not as HUGE a thing as it now. But I think about my teenage son who will one day be behind the wheel and is also a big fan of texting. Texting is like breathing for today's teenagers. But it isn't breathing. It takes thought, it takes attention -- two things that should be dedicated to solely to driving when they're on the road. So I was happy to hear that the Schuylkill VISION is promoting Get an App! Arrive Alive. They're spreading the word about FREE apps you can download that turn off texts when the car is in motion. And if your kids turn off the app? YOU get a notification and confiscate their car keys. How great is this? Not just for our kids but for everyone. Download one and help your loved ones avoid distracted driving and get home alive: AT&T Lifesaver Sprint Verizon
