Women worry about a lot of health issues but too often we overlook our heart health, dismissing it as a "man thing". But heart disease isn't a "man thing". One in three women's death are the result of heart disease. Since February is American Health Month, Schuylkill Health Auxiliary is working to increase our knowledge of heart health with the Little Red Dress Event on Saturday, February 6 (snow date February 28).
The event will be held at the Ramada Inn, 101 S. Progress Avenue, Pottsville. Tickets are $25 (call 570-621-4242 or email: mbardell@schuylkillhealth.com) or $30 at the door. The day includes light refreshments from Carmelo's Roman Delight Restaurant, cash bar, swag bags, auction, entertainment, guest speaker and health education. While you have health on your mind why not do something for someone else's health -- give blood. There are nine local blood drives this month. Click here http://www.redcrossblood.org/give/drive/driveSearchList.jsp?zipSponsor=17901# to find a convenient drive for you and schedule an appointment. Don't forget about the health of your canine buddies. The Schuylkill Mall is holding a Rabies & Vaccine Clinic on Saturday, February 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the small community room.
