I'm ready for spring! How about you? In addition to the promise of flowers and warm weather spring also means...Block of Art! Hope our recent snowy week hasn't made you forget that Block of Art is just a month away. The 11th annual Block of Art begins on April 28 with a blast of music, dancing and wine before a weekend of art. Opening Night will be a the Pottsville Ramada Inn from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. with music by Kim Russell-Seibert and the After Hours Big Band. There will also be a Little Shop of Horrors performance by Artists in Motion. There will also be wine tastings compliments of Olivero's Winery.
On Saturday, April 29 there will be art, music, authors and more throughout downtown Pottsville as well as at the Walk In Art Center in Schuylkill Haven and the Arts Barn outside of Orwigsburg. On Sunday, April 30 there will be yummy events for the kids and adults. The young crowd (and the young-at-heart) can meet at the Maid's Quarters for a tea party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m while adults can gather the the Greystone from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for brunch with the artists. If you're an artist or other vendor interested in participating check out how to register here. Vendor fee is just $25! If the postponement of the Girardville St. Patrick's Day Parade has you searching for something to do this weekend why not visit the Strawberry Playhouse -- a charming little theatre in Tuscarora. They are performing Plaza Suite by the hilarious Neil Simon (his plays turned movies The Odd Couple or The Out-of-Towners will have you ROFL). Tickets at $14 for adults, $13 for students/seniors and $5 for children under 10. You can catch the play on March 24, 25, 31 and April 1 at 7:30 p.m. and March 26 and April 2 at 2 p.m. Call 325-4368 of email lafala@pa.metrocast.net for reservations and information.
