Centralia is a forgotten town. After all, we don't drive through it anymore, let alone live there so how often do we think about it? Unfortunately, lots of people from outside the area are thinking about Centralia. It has become famous in it's own peculiar way and people travel to the county to check out this oddity. Sadly, they leave with memories but leave behind their garbage. Others seem to think of Centralia as a convenient landfill for their larger trash (tires, etc.)
So an annual Centralia Cleanup has become necessary. Organized by EPCAMR (Eastern Pennsylvania Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation) this year's clean up will be on Saturday, October 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (or when all the dumpsters are full!). Sign up by contacting 570-371-3523 or firstname.lastname@example.org Those registered to help will receive gloves, rakes, garbage bags and shovels -- as well as water and lunch.
October is usually our last chance to enjoy the outdoors comfortably so why not bring your little ones to a fun Autumn Adventure Wee Ones Walk led by Porcupine Pat on Wednesday, October 18 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Meet at the Waterfall parking lot in Sweet Arrow Lake County Park for this sensory walk for children ages 3 to 6.
Not all the fun at Sweet Arrow Lake is outdoors! On Tuesdsay, October 24 fro 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. they're having a Feng Shui workshop at the Clubhouse. The fee to learn about the Chinese art of harmonizing your environment is $5. Register at 570-624-3018, 800-621-6325 or email@example.com
