![]() This weekend my daughter made an apple cake. Delicious! The only thing more delicious was the extra Honeycrisp apple I found in the fridge. If, like my family, you're an apple lover don't miss the Apple Festival at Valley View Park this Saturday, September 24 at noon. In addition to all types of apple dishes, there will also be musical entertainment. The event is a fundraiser for St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. If you can't wait until Saturday, try the Apple Social at Zion Lutheran Church, Mauch Chunk and Greenwood Streets, Tamaqua today (Wednesday) from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Some of the treats you'll find there will be waffles with ice cream and apples, pies and dumplings. As a parent who is year eight of college tuition payments (last year for daughter #2) I know that paying for higher education can be incredibly challenging. So how can you manage it? Do some planning and the earlier the better. How about...tomorrow? The Pottsville Library is hosting "College: Getting There from Here" on Thursday, September 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be a financial program for parents by Edward Jones Financial Advisors and a separate program for children. However, if your child is under 7 they'll need an adult to accompany them. Please register by calling 570-622-8880.
