Let's hear a big hooray for the first day of Spring on Sunday! Of course, a little boo for the pssible snow flurries that very same day. But let's not focus on THAT -- instead let's talk about getting outside and enjoying Spring. And what better place than Sweet Arrow Lake County Park. On Tuesday, March 22 Dave McSurdy is leading a program on the civilizations of the Mississippi before the Europeans arrived (which sounds a bit like history class but when you throw in things like the Monks Mound, the Serpent Mound and Cahokia, the city of 15,000 Indians it begins to sound pretty interesting). The free program begins at the clubhouse at 7 p,m. and is for teens and adults.
If you're looking for a beautiful spot to greet Easter morning why not go to Sweet Arrow Lake. A sunrise service led by the pastor of the Pine Grove Wesleyan Church begins at 6:30 a.m. There will be live music and a free breakfast afterwards. Call 570-345-8422 for more information.
The opening day of trout season is right around the corner. Why not plan your first fishing trip to Sweet Arrow Lake County Park. They'll be hosting their annual Opening Day Breakfast from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., $6 for adults and $4 for children. More information at 570-345-8952 or firstname.lastname@example.org
If you need a little help with your taxes (and who doesn't?) stop by the McCann School of Business & Technology, 2650 Woodglen Road, Pottsville this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The workshop will be sponsored by Schuylkill Community Action. Call 570-622-1995 for an appointment.
