Break out your umbrellas because this event is happening rain or shine! The Schuylkill Technology Center Plant Sale will be held in the Marlin parking lot of the school from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Not only are they featuring plants grown by the students -- a great selection for your window boxes and containers as well as some beautiful flowering shrubs -- but they've added a new twist. This year they invited local crafters and vendors to attend. Sometimes you can snag a box for your plants but to be in the safe side I'd bring a box (and someone to carry it for you while you shop) or at least some newspaper or plastic to line the trunk of your car. Profits benefit student activities.
Hope Hill Lavendar Farm will also be having their Opening Weekend on May 13 and 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be plants for sale.
I won't be at the STC Plant Sale for the first time in...forever. Sorry! But there are two more plant sales coming up where you'll see me:
Native Plant Sale on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21
Hawk Mountain Sanctuary from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
South Schuylkill Garden Club on Saturday, May 20
Senior/Community Center, Haven Street, Schuylkill Haven from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
All plants are grown locally: perennials, vegetables, shrubs, dayliliies, heirlooms, small trees and more. There will also be a bake sale and refreshments for sale (perfect for the non-gardener who accompanies you!)
I know I promised you a lost of hikes this weekend but, since they were good weather only hikes, I thought it would best not to list them since it's not looking good for their happening. I'll let you know if they are re-scheduled Have fun jumping in the rain puddles this weekend!
