Bet that fabulous weather last week had you feeling alive and ready to move. Why not celebrate the return of warm sunny days by starting a running (or walking) program. No matter what shape you're in it's simple to ease into running or walking. You can do it anytime, anywhere, no special equipment needed.
One way to keep yourself inspired is with a goal...like entering a 5K. And do I have a 5K for you! Penn State Schuylkill is having a Kaleidoscope Run on Saturday, April 29 at 11 a.m. -- and you have plenty of time to get in shape. This is a color run which makes it much more fun than a regular 5K. Wear clothes you don't mind getting stained by the cornstarch color (although in my experience it has washed out of my clothes). White t-shirts are the best way to "show your color". The race will provide sunglasses and bandannas to protect your eyes and respiratory tract (picture very cool bank robbers in running clothes). Early registration ( before April 1)is $25 and $30 after April 1 -- you can also register on race day between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. All profits benefit campus athletic programs. For information about registering contact Kate Fullerton at 570-385-6131 or email@example.com
Not up to a race? Why not support others while they walk in the local St. Patrick's Day parades? Pottsville's parade will be on Saturday, March 11 at 11 a.m. starting at 12th and Market Streets. Girardville's parade will be on Saturday, March 25 at noon .
