So, with my fingers crossed that the weekend's predicted scattered showers will be more scattered and less showers I thought I'd give you a peek at some of the upcoming outdoor events. Maybe you'll find a fun idea for mom. In case you forgot, this Sunday is Mother's Day. Stay tuned for a list of hikes scheduled -- they'll be posted on Friday. THURSDAY Yappy Hour Orwigsburg Market Street Square from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Bring out your canine buddy for a pet parade, music, demonstrations and vendors. Rain date is May 18. SATURDAY Fishing Rodeo South End Field and Stream Association, Whipporwill Dam, Morea Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (registration begins at 8 a.m. with trout release at 10 a.m.) The rodeo is for children ages 15 and younger and includes prizes in three age groups. Free food and drink for the kids and food and drink can be purchased by adults. For information call 570-205-5527. International Migratory Bird Day Hawk Mountain from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Celebrate migration with crafts, games and educational activities about migration. Author Peter Dunne will discuss his latest book Birds of Prey at 2 p.m. Disc Golf Tournament Sweet Arrow Lake County Park beginning at 10 a.m. (registration from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.) Two rounds of disc golf for a $45 fee ($35 for amateurs) with $5 of that to benefit "Friends of Schuylkill County Parks and Recreation". Gifts for all participants as well as prizes for top three winners. Lunch will be available for purchase.
