![]() Next week is Fair Week! The Schuylkill County Fair opens on Monday, July 29. It is a great choice for an affordable fun day with the family since admission is only $5, children 10 and under are free and seniors (60+) are only $4 on Thursday evening, starting at 4 pm. Parking is also free. With our beautiful summer evenings you can enjoy the fair that opens at 4 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 11 am on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. So what will you find at the fair? Of course the first thing that pops into my head is great food -- along with yummy stuff to eat as you enjoy the fair you can purchase fruits, veggies and other products from farms in our county. Also, you'll be tempted by all sorts of foods that are entered in the fair contests. Why don't my garden veggies ever look this good, this big, this delicious? So many fair contests! Along with food, there will be animals, plants, crafts, art and more. I always get a kick out of the largest weed contest! Kids can enjoy the midway rides with a $15 band. There are special prices on Tuesday - $10 to ride between 1 pm and 5 pm or $20 to ride all day. Choose your day to attend the fair wisely. There are so many shows happening during the week and you want to make sure you're there on the day the show you want to see is happening. Everything from musical performers to animal shows to outdoor events (see yesterday's post) to tractor pulls and parades to food eating contests to wrestling. Check out the daily schedule here.
