Learning doesn't end when we leave school. There are always opportunities to learn new things or brush up old skills. If you're looking to improve your computer skills , a move that can make your life more enjoyable and make you more marketable as an employee there is a free intro to computers workshop at Careerlink, 203 E. Arch Street, Pottsville on Tuesday, July 12 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The free class will be taught by Karen Damiter of McCann School of Business & Technology. The class will cover turning on a computer, using a mouse and keyboard, opening up documents, setting up an email account, accessing the Internet, navigating the web and using search engines. Although the class is free, there is limited seating so you have to register at 570-622-5253.
Even though kids will tell you it's far too early to be thinking about the new school year plenty of parents have the first day of school on their mind already. Help a student put their best foot forward on the first day of a new school year by donating some needed school supplies (or a monetary donation). The Schuylkill United Way is organizing their 14th Annual Stuff the Bus campaign all throughout July. Some of the supplies needed are pens, pencils, highlighters, notebooks, lined paper, folders, rulers, staplers, crayons, colored pencils and markers. You can drop off donations at:
