Do you know a local high school student who wants to experience an adventure on the Schuylkill River this year? The fourth annual Schuylkill Acts & Impacts watershed expedition will be taking place from June 17 to June 24 this year. During the expedition, twelve students from Schuylkill, Berks, Montgomery, Chester and Philadelphia counties will camp and kayak while learning about the watershed and doing water quality testing ona 120 mile journey.
Students can apply until March 24 with this application. All students need is a sleeping bag -- everything from gear to food to outdoors lessons in setting up tents and paddling a kayak (if needed) is provided. The expedition isn't just a week long experience. Participants can do follow-up projects, connect with environmental professionals and perhaps have opportunities for internships and volunteer programs.
