The time is ticking until Mother's Day -- do you have a plan? Flowers are always a great plan -- most moms love them and the season is right. So why not get mom a great gift and shop locally? There are three plants sales that I know of in the county this weekend. First, my favorite: the annual plant sale at the Schuylkill Technology Center in Marlin with plants raised by the students (as well as a few garden decorations created by the welding class). The sale is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the profits benefit the students' programs. You can get a sneak peek at some of the flowers available here. On Saturday, they'll all be moved to the front parking lot -- and this is a rain or shine sale. If you need more information contact Mario Galanti at firstname.lastname@example.org
Next, if your mom has a special love of lavender head out to the Hope Hill Lavender Farm for their plant sale on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can also give the plant gift that keeps on giving all summer long with a heirloom tomato plant from Little Peace Farm, 257 Moonhill Drive, Schuylkill Haven. They're having a Mother's Day sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. It's not just tomatoes...you can also find other vegetables, flowers, herbs, edible flower hanging baskets, organic potting soil and more.
If you want to give mom a rain check, the South Schuylkill Garden Club is having their annual plant sale on May 21. That same weekend there's a native plant sale at Hawk Mountain. More information to follow on both these sales.
