The Schuylkill County Fair is fast approaching (July 29 - August 3) and along with barns full of animals, live music, amusement rides and delicious food there will be plenty of contests for everyone. Meet at the parking lot for the Appalachian Trail along Route 501 for this 3 mile hike rated moderate. Led by John Domalakes, this hike will visit an early American rest stop.

Roaring Creek Tract Hike at 10:30 am
Meet at Roaring Creek parking lot, Route 42, below Aristes for this 8.5 mile hike rated moderate. Leashed dogs are welcome if they are friendly with people AND other dogs. Bring a lunch for you and your pooch.
Saturday, June 15
West Creek to Crystal Falls from 9 am to 2 pm
Meet across the street from the Forrestville Fire Company for this 7.5 mile hike rated moderate. Warning: this will be a downhill and sometimes rocky hike. Led by Hiker Jim, this hike wanders from Old Airport Road to West Creek headwaters to Crystal Falls and crosses the creek five times.

Long Loop Hike from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm
Meet at the Crow Trail parking lot at Tuscarora State Park for this 9.5 mile hike rated difficult. Led by Robin Tracey, this hike enjoy the park's trails, lake views and dam breast. Leashed dogs are welcome if they are friendly with people AND other dogs. Bring a lunch for you and your pooch.

Oak/Hemlock Loop at 10:30 am
Meet at Locust Lake State Park visitors' parking lot for this 4 mile hike rated difficult. Led by Robin Tracey, this hike loops around Locust Creek and includes the tree identification trial made by Eagle Scouts. Leashed dogs are welcome if they are friendly with people AND other dogs. Bring a lunch for you and your pooch.

Swatara State Park Hike at 10:30 am
Meet at Sand Siding Road parking lot just off Route 443 in Suedberg for this 7 mile hike rated moderate. Led by Robin Tracey, this hike will include the old steel bridge and the Bordner Cabin. Leashed dogs are welcome if they are friendly with people AND other dogs. Bring a lunch for you and your pooch.

Silver Creek Hike at 10:15 am
Meet at Locust Lake State Park visitors' parking lot for this 7.5 mile hike rated difficult. This hike will explore the mountain behind Locust Lake, Silver Creek Fire Tower and Reservoir. Leashed dogs are welcome if they are friendly with people AND other dogs. Bring a lunch for you and your pooch.

Petroglyph Program from 2 pm to 3 pm
Bring the kids out the Sweet Arrow Lake County Park to learn more about Native Americans. Come to the Large Pavilion and learn how they communicated using beads, rock carvings and painted trees. The kids can also make a petroglyph rock to take home

Mindfulness Walking and Yoga from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Come to the Clubhouse Pavilion at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park to learn about Mindfulness. Porcupine Pat will teach mindful walking and yoga (all standing position, no mat needed) that can help relieve stress and improve your overall feeling about your life. Fee is $5.
